Two pistols, drugs and hundred bullets seized in Sungai Petani

ALOR STAR: Police detained two men and seized two pistols, hundreds of bullets and 220 grammes of drugs worth RM30,500 in Sungai Petani yesterday.

Kedah Police chief Datuk Zamri Yahya said the men were arrested in an operation conducted by the Special Task Force on Organised Crime (STAFOC), state police serious crime unit (D9) and Kuala Muda police in the 3.15pm operation.

Zamri said acting on a tip-off, police had picked up the suspects in their 20s and 40s at Taman Petani Jaya.

“Upon checking the suspects’ Honda Civic, believed to be stolen, police found a Norinco pistol and 17 bullets. Police also seized 104 gram of syabu, 116 grammes of heroin, 13 Eramine-5 pills and three drug pills.

“Following further investigation on the suspects, police raided another house in Taman Ria Jaya on the same day and seized a Bitro Beretta Garone Pistol and 430 bullets,” he said in a press conference at the state police headquarters here today.

The case was being investigated under section 8 of the Firearms Act (Increased Penalties) 1971, section 8(a) of Arms Act 1960, section 7(1) of the Corrosive, Explosive and Dangerous Weapons Act 1958 and section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
