Man pays RM225 for flight due to Penang traffic jam

GEORGE TOWN: Businessman Choo Choen Khan, 47, missed his 10.20am Firefly flight this morning due to the massive traffic jam reported of Bayan Lepas Expressway.

He had to purchase an alternative flight with FireFly airlines priced at RM225 scheduled at 2pm today.

Speaking to New Straits Times while waiting for his flight in frustration at the Penang International Airport’s Old Town White Coffee, he said this was the 'worst traffic jam he had ever faced in life'.

"I left home at 7.30am and it is unbelievable that I had still missed my 10.20am flight.

"While I was on the Bukit Gambir road around 9.30am, I knew I couldn't make it to the airport.

"Hence, I parked my car nearby and took a cab to the airport.

"The taxi driver was a nice man who attempted various alternative routes passing by Air Itam and Paya Terubong and yet I missed my flight reaching the airport at 10.45am.

"This is very frustrating as I have an important meeting at 1pm today which I could not attend and this ticket I bought for RM115 is a total waste now," he said.
