Second for National Rugby Under-20 rugby team

KUALA LUMPUR: The National team finished a commendable second overall in the Asian Rugby Under-20 Sevens Series after finishing runners-up at the final leg in Hong Kong today.

The team did well to reach the decider but suffered a heavy 52-7 loss to hosts' Hong Kong who retained their overall title in the two-leg series with the win.

Malaysia had beaten Taiwan 26-19 in the last four and Kazakhstan 33-5 in the quarterfinals. The squad defeated China (27-7) and United Arab Emirates (40-12) but lost to Sri Lanka (31-14) in the group stage on Friday.

Hong Kong had downed Sri Lanka in the final of the Malaysian leg in Pasir Gudang last week where the national team finished fourth after losing to Taiwan in the playoff.
