BATU PAHAT: The Batu Pahat Umno today distributed 12,000 pieces of the Jalur Gemilang to the public in conjunction with this year’s National Day celebration.
Umno Supreme Council member and Batu Pahat Umno leader Datuk Dr Mohd Puad Zarkashi said the flag was also given to 54 villages, 14 secondary schools, 44 primary schools and 30 religious schools in the Batu Pahat parliamentary constituency.
“We hope they will fly the national flag to show their love for the country,” he said after distributing the flag and launching of the “#Sehati Sejiwa” Instagram competition at Dataran Penggaram yesterday.
On the competition, Mohd Puad, who is Special Affairs Department (JASA) director-general, said it was an approach by the department to encourage the people to show their creativity by using the new media.
The competition is opened to Malaysians. It ends on Sept 13. Attractive prizes, such as Ipad, awaits the winners.
