Report lodge against suspects who stomped Najib-Hadi picture

GEORGE TOWN: Umno Balik Pulau Information chief Ismail Kassim today lodged a police report against two Bersih 4 protesters who had allegedly stomped on the picture of two people hugging whose faces had been replaced by that of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak and Pas president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang.

Ismail, accompanied by a group of 10 supporters, lodged the report at the Southwest police headquarters.

He said “aggressive protesters" had intentionally tarnished Najib's image.

“These protesters who took part in the rally held on Aug 29 and 30 had intentionally tarnished the image of Najib and Hadi. They need to be called in for investigations as their act had disrespected the government and country,” he said after lodging the report around 11.30am.

Meanwhlie in Kuala Terengganu, Pas Youth views the stomping of a photograph of its party president as a provocative act that can create chaos and threaten the security of the nation.

In voicing the need for immediate police investigations into the matter, Terengganu PAS Youth chief Kamaruzzaman Abdullah said the stomping of Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang's photograph showed disrespect to its president who was a much revered religious leader.

"Abdul Hadi represents the Muslim community at large and is well known both locally and abroad.

"Therefore, as a Malaysian citizen, in a country that practises democracy, the act of stomping the PAS president's photograph has shown disrespect and intruded into the rights of freedom of democracy," he said after lodging a report at the district police headquarters in Jalan Sultan Omar.

Present was Tepuh state assemblyman Hishamuddin Abdul Karim and several PAS youth members.

Kamaruzzaman added that he was duty bound and conscientious to protect the democratic right and peace of the nation responsibly, by lodging the report over the incident.

Yesterday, Kuala Lumpur Criminal Investigation Department chief Datuk Zainuddin Ahmad said police were on the lookout for the two women to facilitate investigations.

He said investigations were conducted by the federal police under section 505(b) of the Penal Code for circulating any statement, rumour or report with intent to cause, fear or alarm to the public, or to any section of the public whereby any person may be induced to commit an offence against the state or against public tranquility.
