I envy Jahai tribe for their simple lives

A PHOTO essay by photographer Ghazali Kori on the Jahais made me realise that there are nomadic tribes in our forests.

Although I have heard of the Negrito tribe, the Jahais are unknown to me and others.

Please let them get on with their lives as that’s the way they want to live.

Staying by the river is only logical as they can fish, but they do not stay in one place for long.

Ghazali is one lucky guy who got close to this tribe. They are shy people and I envied reading about their simple lives.

Away from the hustle and bustle of cities, politics and the Internet, Jahai children spend their time rafting and playing sepak takraw.

I hope the children will get basic education, as without it, they will continue with what their parents are doing.

I appeal to the authorities to leave them alone but, at the same time, give them basic education.

I hope the New Sunday Times will come up with similar articles for the benefit of those chasing success, while these people take their time to enjoy life.
