Najib launches Malaysia food festival in Milan

MILAN, Italy: “Roti canai terbang” by Chef Asmawi Rozli, who is better known as Mawi, captivated guests at the Malaysian Food Festival held at the Malaysian Pavillion at Expo Milano 2015 with his skills in spinning the Malaysian favourite food in the air.

Mawi, who demonstrated to the audience the art of making of roti canai from kneading to spinning it in the air and dancing, was given a big applause by the audience.

Roti canai was one of the Malaysian dishes offered to the foreign guests at the Malaysian Food Festival launched by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak here on Saturday night.

The guests were also treated to the famous Malaysian satay, beef rendang, asam laksa, dim sum, curry puff, goreng pisang, cucur udang and bubur pulut hitam and pengat pisang with a teh tarik to go with the food.

The guests were also entertained to the Malaysian cultural show performed by the National Culture and Arts Department dancers.

Also present at the dinner were the prime minister’s wife, Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor, International Trade and Industry Minister Datuk Seri Mustapha Mohamed and Tourism and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Nazri Abdul Aziz. --Bernama
