Haze: UPPK, UPSRA postponed

PUTRAJAYA: Ujian Penilaian Kelas Kafa (UPPK) and Ujian Penilaian Sekolah Rendah Agama (UPSRA) scheduled for Monday (5/10) and Tuesday (6/10) are postponed due to the worsening haze, said Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (Jakim) director-general Datuk Othman Mustapha.

Othman said 207,343 UPPK candidates were scheduled to sit for Ulum Syariah paper on Monday, Sirah and Khat, and Jawi papers on Tuesday.

"The new date for UPPK will be announced soon.

"Jakim welcomes the decision by Federal Territories Islamic Department (Jawi) to postpone the UPSRA in line with the announcement made by Education Ministry to close schools due to the haze.

“The UPSRA exams at all schools under Jawi in Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya and Labuan will be postponed to Oct 12 and 13," he said in a statement, today.

He said the UPPK and UPSRA exams on Wednesday and Thursday will be held as scheduled.

He urged all relevant agencies which implement Quran and Fardu Ain (Kafa) to immediately inform the postponement of the exams to the involved parties.
