Bursa Malaysia remains in positive territory, CI up 2.3pc

KUALA LUMPUR: Bursa Malaysia remained in positive territory at mid-afternoon today with the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) up slightly by 2.3 points to 1,691.55 as at 3.05 pm.

Market breadth, however, was negative on profit-taking after earlier gains with losers outpacing gainers by 497 to 299, while 281 counters were unchanged, 719 untraded and 33 others suspended.

Turnover was at 1.68 billion shares worth RM1.6 billion.

Among the top gainers were UMW (+29 sen to RM8.02), Axiata (+24 sen to RM6.24) and LPI (+20 sen to RM14.40).

The top losers were British American Tobacco (-RM1.18 to RM63.20) and Genting Plantations (-52 sen to RM10.90).

Of the heavyweights, Maybank added two sen to RM8.49, Public Bank rose 12 sen to RM18.38 and TNB increased 10 sen to RM12.30.

Sime Darby fell three sen to RM8.77.

KNM emerged as the most actively-traded stock, with its shares 1.5 sen lower to 54 sen, followed by IFCA MSC, which added 3.5 sen to 97.5 sen while China Automobile was flat at 14 sen.

On the scoreboard, the FBM Emas Index fell 18.28 points to 11,637.93 and the FBMT100 Index declined 13.74 points to 11,346.79.

The FBM Emas Shariah Index was up 7.66 points to 12,305.08.

The FBM 70 eased by 122.98 points to 12,562.92, FBM Ace went down 12.71 points to 5,766.34 and the Plantation Index lost 25.46 points to 7,420.27.

The Industrial Index depreciated 13.1 points to 3,326.83 and the Finance Index edged down 89.47 points to 14,387.94. – BERNAMA
