Boy abducted in Kajang found by taxi driver

KAJANG: A five-year-old boy who was abducted in Jalan Cempaka, Kajang this morning was returned to his family by a taxi driver at about 5.35pm today.

Loud honkings were heard as the taxi driver, who only wanted to be known as Nizam entered the road leading towards the victim's house and the victim's uncle was seen running to grab the victim as Nizam opened the door and held the child.

The family members of the victim, clearly shaken by the discovery were seen thanking Nizam for his help.

Meanwhile, Nizam said he found the boy wandering around by the side of the road.

"I recognised the boy's photo from a WhatsApp post and decided to send him home," he said.

Nizam however declined to reveal further details as he feared for his safety.

The child was abducted when his mother dropped him off at a kindergarten in Jalan Cempaka, Taman Setia here at about 9am.

It is learnt that two men approached his mother, pretending to ask for directions, before grabbing the child.

In a 73-second closed-circuit-television camera footage which went viral on social media earlier today, the mother was seen busy showing directions when one of the men grabbed the victim and put him in a dark-coloured Proton Saga parked nearby.

The mother was seen trying to get hold of the victim but fell just before she reached the vehicle causing her to sustain injuries to her legs.

She was then seen running towards the vehicle and it was believed she was taken into the car before being dropped off at a market about 100 metres away from the scene.

Kajang police chief Assistant Commissioner Willey Richard confirmed the discovery.

"The victim was found safe and was taken to Kajang hospital for check up," he said
