Woman claims to have found plane wreckage with Malaysian flag

KOTA KINABALU: A man told police in Sandakan his aunt found a piece of aircraft wreckage with the Malaysian flag as well as skeletal remains inside in the southern Philippines.

Sabah Police Commissioner Datuk Jalaluddin Abdul Rahman said the report was lodged by a civilian but there was no confirmation of what his aunt had found, supposedly in Tawi-Tawi province.

In March last year Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 disappeared en route from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing with 239 passengers and crew on board.

After more than a year without a single clue of the missing aircraft, a piece of the wing called the flaperon was recovered on the French Reunion Island in the Indian Ocean on July 29.

It was later confirmed to be a piece from MH370 based on its paint and maintenance records of the Boeing 777 aircraft.
