MH17: Msia was not uncooperative, says Liow

KUALA LUMPUR: Claims that Malaysia had been uncooperative during the production of the final report by Dutch authorities on the downing of MH17 are completely baseless.

Transport Minister Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai said Malaysia gave its full cooperation and assistance towards the completion of the report."

“It is disheartening to read such speculative news that is damaging to our image.

“We had worked closely with the Dutch authorities and will continue to do so until we find the culprits responsible for this tragedy," he told a press conference after launching the Tunku Abdul Rahman Vocational Institute here today.

The news report had claimed that the final report had criticised Malaysia for “suspending” assistance and conducting its own probe.

Australia News Corp claimed that a section of the four-volume detailed analysis report released last week had stated that both Putrajaya and Malaysia Airlines – had “actively sought to hinder the investigation to avoid scrutiny.

The news agency also claimed that the Dutch report also criticised Russia for impeding investigations by failing to provide raw radar data of the flight’s last location and information on the Russian-made BUK missile, and Ukraine for not allowing certain officials to be interviewed and also failing to provide raw flight path radar data.

MH17 from Amsterdam to KL was shot down over Donetsk in eastern Ukraine on July 17 last year, killing all 298 passengers onboard.

The final investigation report was released last week, 15 months after the incident.
