'Nurul Izzah must apologise for meeting with an enemy of the country'

PUTRAJAYA: Lembah Pantai Member of Parliament Nurul Izzah Anwar must apologise to all Malaysians, especially Sabahans for her decision to meet and take photos with ‘Sulu princess’ Jacel Kiram.

Barisan Nasional strategic communications director Datuk Seri Abdul Rahman Dahlan said Nurul’s decision to do so was “a big mistake.”

“Nurul Izzah could have met anyone she liked in the Philippines, but mingling with an individual who supported the armed invasion in Sabah was unacceptable."

“We all know Jacel openly supported the invasion in Kampung Tanduo, Sabah. Why did Nurul Izzah met Jacel?

“Whatever her reason is, Nurul Izzah should have not met with an enemy of the country, someone who had made a public declaration to support the attacks in Sabah.

“I urge Nurul Izzah to make a public apology to Malaysians, particularly Sabahans, and not to give excuses because there is no single reason that justifies the act.” he said in a statement, today.

Rahman, who is also Kota Belud MP, said her action seemed as if she was supportive of the invasion of the self-proclaimed ‘Sultan of Sulu’ in Sabah two years ago.

“Imagine the feelings of the Sabah people, especially the family members of the police force who were brutally murdered in the intrusion.

“Nurul Izzah should remember that Jacel Kiram’s supporters are still looking for ways to invade Sabah,” he said.

Rahman said Nurul Izzah should not blame the Sabah government if she was denied a visit to the state in the future.

Rahman was responding to the publication of pictures of Nurul Izzah together with the daughter of the former self-styled ‘Sulu Sultan’ who had ordered the Lahad Datu intrusion.

Jacel's father, Jamalul Kiram III sent 200 of his 'Royal Sulu Army' to invade Sabah in Feb 2013.
