Motorcyclist dies in accident with Porsche

SIBU: A 50-year-old man was killed when the motorcycle he was riding was rammed from behind by a luxury sports car.

Ting Yew Kui died on the spot in the 5.30pm accident which occurred at Jalan Tun Abang Haji Openg here. Ting was heading towards Sibu town.

It was learnt that the driver of the black-colour Porsche survived the accident with minor injuries.

The impact of the crash was so strong that Ting was thrown off his motorcycle and landed on a Christian cemetery near the scene.

The Porsche also sustained massive damage when it smashed the front wall of a nearby church after ramming Ting’s motorcycle.

It was learnt that the driver of the car, whose identity yet to be ascertained, fled the scene and sought treatment at a medical centre.

Sibu district deputy police chief Superintendent Martin Koo, when contacted, confirmed the case.

"No arrest has been made since the driver of the car is still receiving treatment at the medical centre.

"The police, however, are monitoring his condition," said Koo.
