Nurul Izzah contemplating suing those who labelled her national traitor

KUALA LUMPUR: PKR vice-president Nurul Izzah Anwar is contemplating legal action against individuals that have branded her as a national traitor.

She said she had a clear conscience on the matter, regardless of Minister in Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Seri Azalina Othman's statement which said her actions were a gesture of disloyalty towards the country.

Azalina had said that Nurul Izzah's meet with the self-claimed Sulu princess Jacel Kiram was unacceptable, and contrary to the oath that she (Nurul Izzah) took to protect the nation as a member of parliament.

"The meeting with Jacel happened outside of the Dewan Rakyat, so if Azalina wants to add another incident to the long list of condemnations of opposition MPs, be my guest, it is a long list and I will face it with a clear conscience.

"I am discussing with my lawyers on the possibility of legal action being taken against the individuals that have branded me as a national traitor," she said.

Nurul Izzah, who is Lembah Pantai MP, said at the Parliament House the legal actions would not exclude the Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar and Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri, whom had called her actions a treasonous act.

Earlier, Azalina had tabled a motion to censure Nurul Izzah.
