IPOH: Gopeng Umno division has unanimously supported the party's decision to sack the divisional Wanita chief Datuk Hamidah Osman.
Gopeng Umno division chief Senator Datuk Hamzah Kassim said they also wanted the Supreme Council to take similar action against former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad and Umno deputy president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.
"We have made such a recommendation before and are now making the suggestion again after holding a special meeting," he told a Press conference after chairing the meeting here tonight.
Present were his deputy Datuk Hang Tuah Din, division vice-chief Annuar Baharudin, Youth chief Mohd Adlin Tahiruddin and Puteri chief Suzana Osman.
Also present was Gopeng Wanita Umno vice head Feridah Zakaria, who will be appointed as the acting chief for the movement.
Hamzah admitted that the division had proposed for such action to be taken against Hamidah for her continued attacks against the party president Datuk Seri Najib Razak.
Asked whether the sacking of Hamidah would affect the division, Hamzah said Gopeng Umno remained united and would continue their hard work to help Barisan Nasional wrest the parliamentary and state seats in the constituency.
"We will continue supporting Najib as the party president and Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abd Kadir as the state Umno liaison committee chairman," he said.
