PM expresses condolences over the death of SMK Raja student

KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak today expressed his condolences over the death of SMK Raja Abdullah Form 5 student Hon Ye.

In his Twitter account today, Najib tweeted: "I feel sad after reading about what the Form 5 student who took his own life due to his frustrations of being unable to handle SPM questions."

Sending his condolences to Hon Ye's mother, the prime minister said he sympathised with the lad's family.

He reminded Malaysians that while examinations were important, it was not everything.

What was most vital is familial ties, he said.

On Tuesday, frustrated after not being able to handle the questions in one of the SPM papers, Hon Ye was later found dead in his room.

He was found hanging by his necktie around his neck, in his room in Taman Jinjang.

Teachers were shocked and had described him as a "bright student".
