Two defeated candidates reintroduced to MIC central working committee

KUALA LUMPUR: Two candidates who were defeated in the recently concluded MIC re-elections have been brought back to the central working committee.

The candidates are Datuk M. Saravanan and Datuk V.S Mogan who were the party’s former Vice President and Information Chief.

The appointments of the candidates who vied for the post of deputy president and Vice President was made by party president Datuk Dr S. Subramaniam ‘based on his prerogative’.

Dr Subramaniam said a decision had been made on the appointments but he would only make the announcement in the next two months.

"I've already made my decision. I will make the announcement later.

"The party has to catch up with a lot of pending administrative work. I don't want to appoint them and put them in a fix," said Dr. Subramaniam.

He said many matters had been neglected to due to the leadership crisis within MIC which dragged on for nearly a year.

He added that he was looking to meet Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak to seek additional cabinet posts for MIC members.

There are seven more vacant seats on MIC’s central working committee.

This among others includes the position of secretary general, treasurer general and information chief.
