Man dies in accident with stationary lorry [VIDEO]

GEORGE TOWN: A 30-year-old man was killed when his Toyota Camry skidded and hit a stationary lorry on the Penang Bridge early today.

Two maintenance workers who were putting up emergency cones were injured in the 12.10am incident when the Camry spun around after crashing into the lorry and hit them.

The driver of the vehicle, Khor Chong Meng, who was heading towards Prai, was believed to have lost control of his vehicle, skidded towards the right side of the bridge and crashed into the lorry.

The lorry was carrying cones and equipment for maintenance workers to fix the fencing for the bridge.

Khor died on the spot and his body was taken to Seberang Jaya Hospital for post-mortem examination.

Seberang Perai Tengah police chief Assistant Commissioner Rusli Mohd Noor confirmed the accident.

"The case will be investigated under section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for reckless driving,” he said.
