Remand order extended for two Tapah murder suspects

TAPAH: Police today obtained an additional seven-day remand order against the two suspects in the Tapah murder case.

The 57-year-old mechanic and his 22-year-old son were remanded to assist in the investigation of the fourth murder victim.

The other two suspects -the mechanic's 54-year-old wife and a 17-year-old disabled son - were released without conditions due to lack of evidence on their involvement in the multiple murder cases.

The fourth victim, who is believed to be the mechanic's former worker, was reported missing on Oct 30, 2012.

State Criminal Investigation Department chief Senior Assistant Commissioner Goh Kok Liang said they had referred the investigation paper to the deputy public prosecutor office and were advised to release the main suspect's wife and his handicapped son.

The earlier remand order against the four suspects expired today.
