'Orange juice' murder suspect remanded

SHAH ALAM: A Pakistani man who had allegedly stabbed a colleague to death for drinking his orange juice has been remanded to assist in the murder probe.

Shah Alam police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Iqbal Ibrahim said the magistrate's court allowed a seven-day remand order against the 51-year-old suspect.

"The order starts today and ends on March 26," he said briefly.

Earlier, Iqbal said the suspect became angry when the victim, a 49-year-old male Bangladeshi, drank his orange juice while breaking fast at a Section 36 factory workers hostel yesterday.

The suspect had stabbed the victim multiple times with a knife taken from the kitchen.

An eye-witness alerted the police to the incident at 7.20pm and the suspect was arrested 10 minutes later at the scene.

Police seized the knife and investigations are on-going under Section 302 of the Penal Code.
