MANJUNG: A police corporal died after being beaten up yesterday.
The deceased, Noor Hisham Abd Halim, 32, from Langkawi was found here by the public in a weakened state and was treated by the Civil Defense Department.
He was pronounced dead en route to hospital.
The deceased’s brother, Noor Hazaruddin, 29, when met at the Hospital Raja Permaisuri Bainun (HRPB) mortuary today said he learned of the incident at 7pm yesterday.
“I was working in Kuala Lumpur when my father called me to inform me about the incident.
“I rushed to Negri Sembilan to fetch my mother before heading to HRPB this morning,” he said.
Hazaruddin said Noor Hisham’s body will be brought back to their village in Kampung Nyior Cabang, Padang Mat Sirat for burial.
Manjung police chief Assistant Commissioner Tengku Zailan Tengku Ahmad Shah when contacted, confirmed the incident.
He said the deceased was off-duty during the incident. Tengku Zailan is expected to hold a press conference later.
