THE long walk to departure gates at Kuala Lumpur International Airport 2 (klia2) will be a thing of the past once 42 walkalators are installed.
So far, Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB) has installed 17 walkalators at klia2, which can handle 45 million passengers annually.
MAHB managing director Datuk Badlisham Ghazali said six more would be installed by the end of the year.
“By the end of next year, we will have a total of 42 walkalators in klia2. So, it’s part of my commitment to address that issue,” he said.
“Why only six this year? Because we ordered many, but delivery has to be scheduled, and more importantly, installation has to be scheduled.
“I don’t want to install 25 at once and have to close the airport. It will look like a construction site,” he said.
