JOHOR BARU: A 52-year old cook was arrested today for killing his wife with a meat cleaver and a pair of scissors at their house in Taman Kluang Barat this morning.
In the 5.30am incident, the victim was found dead with several stab wounds to her chest and a slash wound at the chin.
The couple's son returned home from work this morning and discovered the carnage.
Johor police criminal investigation department chief Kamarul Zaman Mamat said they believe the suspect had tried to kill himself as there were slash wounds on his wrists.
The alleged murder weapons, a meat cleaver and scissors stained with blood, were found next to the suspect.
Kamarul Zaman said the suspect, who is still alive, was brought to the Kluang Hospital, together with the murder victim.
"The suspect is being remanded pending investigation and urine test for drugs. The forensic team will conduct a post mortem on the victim's remains,” he said.
He said they were looking into domestic violence as a possible motive, but are investigating the case under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
