Family of five cheat death in Raub accident

RAUB: It was a close shave for five family members when their car collided with another car at KM349 of Jalan Kuala Lumpur- Kota Baru here, this morning.

In 12.30am incident, Zulkarami Aminudin, 29, and his family was on their way from Kuala Lipis heading to the city when their Perodua Myvi collided with Leong Kam Sang, 54 , who was driving a Proton Iswara.

District police chief Superintendent Wan Zahari Wan Busu said initial investigations revealed that Leong had lost control before skidding into the opposite lane and rammed into Zulkarami’s car.

“Leong who hailed from Taman Lee Man, Raub was trapped and pinned into his car. He sustained severe head and body injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.”

Wan Zahari said Zulkarami, his wife Noliyana Raya, 29, their two daughters four year-old Aulia Izzatunnisa, and two year-old Arfrina Insyirah only suffered minor injuries.

“The couple’s another daughter 11-months Ainan Iqlima suffered a broken leg. All of them were sent to Raub Hospital for treatments and post-mortem.”

He said the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of Road Transport Act 1987.

Meanwhile district Fire and Rescue Department chief senior superintendent Rohadi Yaakob said they received a distress call at 12.40am and arrived at the scene about five minutes later.

He said it took the firemen about 15 minutes to remove Leong’s body from the wreckage.
