JOHOR BARU: The stork made deliveries to two mothers at KPJ Puteri Specialist Hospital and another 27 mothers at Sultanah Aminah Hospital as they welcomed their New Year Day babies.
Among those who were happy with their bundle of joy were housewife Roshaniza Roslan, 35, who gave birth to a healthy baby boy weighing 2.76kg at 8.57am.
"The baby was due on Jan 10, but I guess he decided to arrive earlier on the first day of the year. It was a nice surprise," said Rosnahiza, who was accompanied by her husband Mohd Saifulazri Mohd Shaffian, 33.
The baby is the couple's fourth child. He was among two New Year babies who were treated to hampers at the private hospital.
Another happy mother was Noraini Ismail, 33, who delivered her second child, a boy at 9.15am at the same hospital. She said she was thankful that the delivery went smoothly.
"I was admitted to the maternity ward last night. I am grateful I did not have wait that long before my beautiful baby boy was born. At 3.26kg, he was born two days earlier than his expected date of delivery," said Noraini.
Meanwhile, there were 27 babies who were born at Sultanah Aminah Hospital between midnight and 5pm today.
The first baby, a girl weighing 2.5kg was delivered at 12.01am. Of the 27 babies delivered at the hospital, 14 were boys while the remaining were girls.
