KOTA BARU: A total of 28 babies were born at five government hospitals in Kelantan today.
Of the figure, 17 babies were born at Raja Perempuan Zainab II hospital (HRPZII) in Kota Baru and the rest at Jeli, Pasir Puteh, Tanah Merah and Kuala Krai hospital.
State health director Datuk Dr Zaini Hussin said in a statement that the figure was recorded between midnight to 2pm today.
The babies, he said, comprised 15 boys and 13 girls.
However, no twins were born at any of the hospitals.
Meanwhile, HRPZII organised a special programme to welcome the New Year babies today.
Several head of departments attended the programme.
The babies born at the hospital comprised nine boys and eight girls.
The first baby girl was born at the hospital about 12.28am.
