Bauxite corruption: Three more arrested by MACC

KUANTAN: Another three individuals, including a woman were detained by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) yesterday in relation to corruption involving bauxite mining.

The trio are believed to have acted as middlemen for the selling of 13D Forms, a Mineral Ores Transfer Document issued by the Land and Mines Office to bauxite miners to transport the mineral. They are private individuals and not public servants.

MACC investigations division director Datuk Azam Baki said the three, aged in their 40's and 50's, were arrested separately around here between 4pm and 11.55pm.

"The three will be remanded for seven days starting from today under Section 17 of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Act 2009."

Earlier on Thursday, MACC detained four enforcement officers from the Pahang Land and Mines Office for allegedly accepting bribes from illegal bauxite-mining operators.

The four were believed to have taken more than RM100, 000 in bribes from the operators.
