City council staff dies after his motorcycle gets rammed by MPV

KUALA TERENGGANU: A 26-year-old staff of Kuala Terengganu City Council was killed while his 55-year-old pillion rider suffered serious injuries when their motorcycle was rammed by a multipurpose vehicle (MPV) near Batu Buruk, today.

The victim, Mohd Amir Syafiq Che Abdullah, died on the spot and his friend Zakaria Che Taib, broken his leg and suffered body injuries in the 12.15pm incident.

Sources said both victims were heading towards their work place near Flat Ladang Gemilang in Kuala Terengganu from Kuala Ibai.

"The victim's Yamaha Lagenda motorcycle was rammed by the vehicle which was heading towards Batu Buruk from Jalan Kamaruddin, here, he said adding that the MPV's driver escaped unhurt.

The source said the victim's body was sent to the Sultanah Nur Zahirah Hospital for post mortem.

Meanwhile District police chief Assistant Commissioner Idris Abdul Rafar who confirmed the incident said the case was being investigated under Section 14(1) of the Road and Transport Act 1987.
