Motorcyclist dies after slamming into open car door, rammed by another car

BACHOK: A motorcyclist died after smashing into a car door opened by the vehicle driver in an incident at Jalan Pasir Puteh - Machang / Gerik (Kampung Felcra Teratak Batu), on Friday.

The victim, 37, died at the scene due to head wounds in the incident, which took place at 11.30am.

Pasir Puteh district police chief, Superintendent Zaizul Rizal Zakaria, said the incident occurred when the driver of a Proton Persona had stopped his vehicle by the roadside.

The driver had opened the car door. At the same time, the motorcyclist, riding a Honda Dash from the same direction, could not stop in time and rammed headlong into the door.

The impact caused the motorcyclist to be thrown into the opposite lane. A Perodua Alza on the opposite lane could not stop in time and rammed into the motorcyclist," he said in a statement.

The Alza was driven by a 42-year-old man.

The motorcyclist's remains were taken to the Tengku Anis Hospital, Pasir Puteh for a post-mortem examination.

The car owners were unharmed in the incident.

Zaizul Rizal said the case is being investigated under Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for reckless driving.
