Woman who yelled 'bomb' at Penang airport let off with warning

GEORGE TOWN: A foreign woman who yelled 'bomb' at a bag scanning counter at the international airport here yesterday has been let off with a warning.

Southwest district police chief Supt Lai Fah Hin said the 32-year-old Indonesian woman was let off after advice from the deputy public prosecutor's office.

"Since there is no strong evidence, the accused has been discharged upon advice by the Deputy Public Prosecutor.

"We have let her off with a stern warning,"he said in a statement here today.

Yesterday, the Indonesian woman was about to board a flight from the Penang International Airport to Jakarta at 9am when she yelled out "bomb" in the terminal.

Her action sparked a brief panic among other passengers af the terminal.

Auxiliary policemen stationed at the airport immediately detained her and brought her away for investigation.
