Prison Department targets RM34 million in product sales this year

SEREMBAN: The Prisons Department is eyeing sales of RM34 million worth of products made by inmates across the country this year.

Its director-general, Datuk Seri Zulkifli Omar said last year, the Prisons Department registered product sales of RM32 million, which exceeded its target of RM30 million, set for 2015.

“From the total sale, food products, such as frozen foods recorded the highest collections with RM26.6 million. This shows that food products from the Prisons Department are at par with the products outside as they are of high quality,” he said after launching the Infokraf exhibition held at KIP Mart supermarket here today.

He added, the products, marketed under the brand name ‘My Pride’, were available at various hypermarkets in the Klang Valley.

Besides food products, other products on sale under the My Pride brand include furniture, handicraft, metal products, garments, vegetables and freshwater fish.
