Police nabbed 67 gamblers during Ops Limau

KERIAN: Police nabbed 67 gamblers and seized gambling dice, Horseshoe crab along with over RM100,000 cash in the Ops Limau 2016 at Bagan Seberang, Kuala Kurau, Kerian yesterday evening.

The operation was led by D7 gambling prevention unit chief Deputy Superintendent Tan Tin Heng together with 24 officers which started at 3.30pm on Saturday.

According to Tan, the operation was conducted at an open land area in between two residential premises.

"We managed to detain 53 men and 14 women aged between 26 to 77 years old.

"We also managed to seize RM128,588 in cash from the gamblers," he said.

"Among other items seized were 1,619 chips of different values ​​between RM5 to RM50 amounting to RM246,480 and a variety of gambling equipment," he said.

He added that during the raid a number of gamblers managed to escape by jumping into the sea nearby and fled by boat.

Meanwhile, Inspector General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar through his Twitter account also congratulated on the success of crippling the gambling activities.
