Najib approves RM15mil allocation for business complex in Sungai Petani

SUNGAI PETANI: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak approved a RM15 million allocation for the development of a business complex to benefit small traders and hawkers here this evening.

The endorsement was based on the request made by newly appointed Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Bashah Md Hanipah in his speech during the launching ceremony of the Urban Transformation Centre (UTC) here.

Najib in his speech, said he hoped that the business complex would help the small traders and hawkers who did not have a proper place to conduct their business.

"Those small traders and hawkers who have been doing business without a proper shop in various places can be gathered in one place with the development of the business complex," he said.

Najib and Bashah later had a walkabout at the newly built UTC, located at Ukir Square here, which was built at a cost of RM15 million.

It is the second UTC in the state, after a similar one in Alor Star.
