Marriage not a licence for forced sex

MARRIAGE is no licence for forced sex between husband and wife. A husband cannot have sex with his wife against her wishes.

The wife can have the husband charged with rape if he forces himself on her.

There was a report of a wife who cut off her husband’s genitals with a blade because of his insatiable sexual urges and rough sex.

She allegedly did it while her husband was sleeping.

The woman has been charged and she can be jailed or fined for the offence.

She should have reported her plight to the police.

Rape in marriage is a sensitive and taboo subject in Malaysia.

We have to discard the old mindset that wives must submit to their husbands. Wives are not sex slaves.

Many wives work and juggle their work life and family life. Therefore, their conjugal rights need to be respected.

Sex within marriage is an activity that a man and woman engage in together to satisfy each other bodily, emotionally and sexually, and because they love each other.

Both should keep each other happy and aim for a long-lasting and loving relationship.
