SEREMBAN: Footage of a traffic police officer pinning down a man on a busy road has gone viral yesterday, with more than 10,000 views so far.
The 22-second video also shows road users stopping at the scene to witness the incident, causing a massive jam.
Seremban district police chief Assistant Commisioner Muhamad Zaki Harun said the 44-year-old man tried to escape a police roadblock at Jalan Sungai Gadut, in the 10am incident.
"He tried to escape from the police check point by jumping out from his vehicle.
“But his attempt to flee failed after one of the police officers gave chase and managed to arrest him," said Muhamad Zaki.
He said the man was finally caught near a supermarket at Seremban Jaya.
"Checks revealed the man is a lorry driver and was drunk when police arrested him. He has been released on bail today," said Muhamad Zaki.
The case is being investigated under Section 45 (A) of the Road Transport Act (1987) for driving under the influence of alcohol.
