Thieves abandon stolen ATM machine by roadside in Klang [VIDEO]

KLANG: A plan to steal a RHB Bank automated teller machine (ATM) apparently failed when the machine was found abandoned by a roadside in Bandar Putera early this morning.

It was learnt that a group of thieves had carted away the machine from the Delloyd factory in Jalan Kebun at 5.26am today.

Klang Selatan OCPD Assistant Commissioner Azman Abdul Razak said the ATM was dragged using cables on the road towards the Kesas Highway and was later found in front of the Seri Ayu flats in Bandar Putra.

"The theft was discovered when the security guard of a car service centre heard noises coming from the ATM which was located next to its guard post.

"When the security guard went out to check on the noise, he saw several people wearing black and white face masks carting away the machine," he said.

The ATM, said Azman, had been placed at the factory for the past two decades.

Azman said the forensic team had gone to the scene to assist investigations which are still ongoing.
