MMEA flies seven-month old baby on mercy flight from Kelantan to IJN

KUALA LUMPUR: A seven-month old baby was taken on a mercy flight, courtesy of the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA), for immediate examination and treatment at the National Heart Institute (IJN) here today.

The baby, Arissa Humairah Syukriyaz is suffering from heart complications and has had trouble breathing since she was born. She depends on a ventilator machine to breath.

Arissa who was accompanied by her mother, Norhafizza Mohd Rased, 33, and a doctor departed from Raja Perempuan Zainab II Hospital in Kelantan by ambulance to the Sultan Ismail Petra Airport.

From there, they were then flown in a Agusta Westland AW139 helicopter from the airport to a field at the Kuala Lumpur Hospital.

The baby was then taken by ambulance to IJN.

The Agusta Westland AW139 helicopter, piloted by Capten Wan Najib Azrin Wan Nor Adib and assisted by four other crew members, took off at 11am and landed here about 12.50pm.
