Man who stabbed diner at Lebuh Macallum restaurant arrested

GEORGE TOWN: Police have arrested a man who stabbed a diner in a restaurant at Lebuh Macallum here yesterday.

Northeast district police chief Assistant Commissioner Mior Farid Alatrash Wahid said the man, who was believed to be mentally unsound, was remanded for six days from today.

“Post mortem results on the victim this morning confirmed the cause of death as right upper chest injuries due to stabbing,” he told reporters here today.

It was reported that the 58-year-old victim was stabbed to death while having his dinner.

The suspect was picked up by police shortly after the incident.

The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
