Butterworth furniture factory, 9 cars destroyed in early morning fire

BUTTERWORTH: A furniture factory at Jalan Ong Yi How here was completely razed in a fire today.

Also damaged in the fire were nine cars parked in the factory’s warehouse.

A fire and rescue department spokesman said they received a distress call at 3.24am.

He said a team of 20 firemen and four engines from the Butterworth, Perai and Perda fire stations arrived at the scene at 3.34am

"The fire destroyed the entire factory," he told reporters here today.

He said there were no fatalities involved.

"The fire was put out at 4.25am and overhaul works are being carried out," said the spokesman.
