Twenty-two injured in four-vehicle accident in Seremban

SEREMBAN: One person sustained serious injuries while 21 others suffered minor wounds in a four-vehicle accident at Jalan Kayu Ara – Nusari Bayu this morning.

The 8.45am accident involved a pickup truck, a car, a motorcycle and a factory bus.

The driver of the pickup truck, K.Tirunavukatasa, 26, injured his head and right leg while the car owner Chok Yuet Lee, 22, motorcyclist Ramli Mohamed Ali, 65, and 19 bus passengers sustained minor injuries.

The bus driver N.Kajenthiran, 24, escaped unharmed.

District police chief Deputy Commissioner Muhamad Zaki Harun said the incident happened when the pickup truck swerved into the opposite lane as he attempted to overtake.

“The truck then collided head-on with the bus before it overturned and crashed into the car and motorcycle behind the bus.

“The bus lost control and overturned on the opposite lane. The case is being investigated under Section 43 of the Road Transport Act 1987 for careless and inconsiderate driving,” he said.

Meanwhile, Seremban 2 Fire and Rescue Department operation chief Yahya Jaafar said one engine with nine personnel rushed to the scene after receiving a distress call at 8.45am.

“When we arrived eight minutes later, we found the truck driver pinned in his seat. We managed to rescue the victim about 15 minutes and he was later sent to the Tuanku Ja’afar Hospital for treatment,” he said.
