Housewife cheats death when lorry crashes into her bedroom

TAMPIN: A housewife's decision not to take her regular mid-morning nap in her bedroom probably saved her life today.

Had she done so, she could have ended up in the rubble when a 25-tonne lorry came crashing through the bedroom of her Taman Woon home.

It was learnt that the lorry, laden with sand, was parked at a steep road before it suddenly reversed and crashed into C.Raveenthiran’s house in the 11am incident.

Raveenthiran and his wife, N. Mahassuri, 51, who were in the house during the incident, were unharmed.

The lorry driver, in his 30s, sustained minor back injuries.

The man was rescued by other lorry drivers before being sent to the Tampin Hospital for treatment.

Raveenthiran said he was in another room while his wife was preparing lunch in the kitchen when the incident took place.

“I suddenly heard a loud crash and felt my house shaking. I immediately rushed out of house and was stunned to see a lorry in what was our bedroom.

“Normally, during that hour, my wife would be having a nap in the room, I am felt grateful that she wasn’t in the room today,” he said.

He said similar incidents have happened at the residential area, following housing construction works in the neighbourhood.

Their houses he said, were located downhill

Meanwhile, district police chief Superintendent Wooi Kooi Cheang when contacted verified that the house owner lodged a police report about 4.45pm today.

Investigations are underway.
