KUANTAN: Pupils and teachers of Sekolah Kebangsaan Beserah received an unexpected visitor today in the form of a wild boar, who managed to get its head stuck in between the school gates.
A school security guard first spotted the animal at 6.30am and immediately alerted the authorities.
A teacher told NST that this is the first such incident of its kind at the school.
"It's very likely that the animal had strayed from the nearby forest while foraging for food."
Pahang Civil Defence Department director Zainal Yusoff said the department were alerted to the incident at 6.40am.
Four of its personnel arrived at the scene about 25 minutes later to save the wild boar.
"It took them about two hours to free the wild boar. However the animal died during the process.
"Its remains have been sent to the Wildlife and National Parks Department,” he said.
