(Badminton) Malaysia ready for Thomas and Uber Cup

KUNSHAN, CHINA: MALAYSIA is ready for business as the Thomas and Uber Cup gets underway in Kunshan, China tomorrow.

For the Thomas Cup, Malaysia who are in Group C play minnows England while the Uber Cup squad are in for a mammoth of a task against defending champions China in Group A.

BA of Malaysia (BAM) technical director Morten Frost, knows that there is no point in hoping for a miracle against China in the Uber Cup but hopes the team will still do well in their remaining ties against Denmark (Tuesday) and Spain (Wednesday) to qualify for the quarter-finals on Thursday.

The Dane, however, wants the Thomas Cup team led by Lee Chong Wei to do a better job. The other teams in Group C are favourites South Korea and Germany.

"Our team has got a very good chance of doing well, but similarly there are five to six other teams who can do so as well. It will all depend on the team on that day," said Frost who thinks Malaysia can reach the semi-finals at least.

At the 2014 edition in New Delhi, Malaysia surprised everyone by reaching the final before going down 3-2 to Japan.
