JITRA: A 29-year-old man was arrested for allegedly trying to kill his three-year-old daughter in Kampung Tengah, Kodiang near here.
The toddler sustained a 7cm slash wound to her neck and has been warded at the Tuanku Fauziah Hospital in Kangar.
Kubang Pasu district police chief acting Assistant Commissioner Abdul Rahim Abdullah said the incident occurred at about 3.30pm on Saturday.
According to police report, the suspect had locked himself and his daughter inside their house before he tried to kill her.
He said the man also tried to kill himself by stabbing himself in the chest.
The case is being investigated under Sections 307 and 309 of the Penal Code for attempted murder and attempted suicide, respectively.
