MACC detains lorry driver for giving false statements

KUANTAN: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has apprehended a lorry driver, on suspicion of giving false statements as a witness in a corruption case at the Sessions Court in Kuantan in 2012.

The 34-year-old man was arrested at about 2.15 pm at MACC head office in Kuantan, today.

It was learnt he was a witness in the corruption case of an enforcement officer and had given statements at the MACC branch in Kemaman, Terengganu.

However the man gave conflicting statements in a trial of the case at the Kuantan Sessions Court in November 2012.

MACC will be charging the man at the Kuantan Sessions Court tomorrow.

Meanwhile, Pahang MACC director Datuk Wan Ramli Wan Abdullah when contacted by Bernama confirmed the arrest.
