PAS to unveil Sg Besar, K. Kangsar by-elections candidates on May 27

KUALA LUMPUR: Pas will announce its candidates for the Sungai Besar and Kuala Kangsar by-elections on Friday night.

PAS vice-president Idris Ahmad said the party is still in the midst of finalising its candidate list by taking in views and opinions of stakeholders involved.

"We will contest, it is our seats.

"We will announce the candidates for Sungai Besar and Kuala Kangsar on May 27," he told reporters at the Parliament lobby.

Asked to respond to claims by PKR that Pas was the reason why Pakatan's discussion on the by-elections were postponed, Idris replied: "What does that have to do with us? That is a problem between a husband and wife, why would a neighbour (Pas) want to determine who to trust or not.

"That is their problem, we do not want to get involved with their problems," he said.

The Bukit Gantang Member of Parliament also questioned Amanah's interest in contesting in using the excuse as a ‘peacemaker’ between Pas and PKR, especially in Selangor.

He said the statement by Amanah was inaccurate, and asked on why is there a need for a peacemaker as Pas wanted to fight against Barisan Nasional, not another opposition party.

Amanah communications director Khalid Samad today said that his party was more suited to contest in Sungai Besar in order to maintain the relationship between Pas and PKR in Selangor.
