Kadir Gang remnants arrested in Johor

JOHOR BARU: Three men aged between 26 and 42 were arrested by police today for their alleged involvement in a spate of armed robberies in Kota Tinggi recently.

The suspects are believed to be members of the Kadir Gang, whose leader and two other members were arrested by police in a raid in Kota Tinggi last year.

Johor police chief Datuk Wan Ahmad Najmuddin Wan Mohd said the two of the suspects were picked up this morning in Seri Alam and one in Kota Tinggi, making it six gang members currently in police custody.

"The first two suspects were detained at a house in Seri Alam at 6.30am while the third suspect, a 27-year old man, was arrested at a house in Kota Tinggi at 9am, today," he told a press conference at the police headquarters today.

Police also seized two firearms, a .38 Smith & Wesson revolver and a homemade gun which can fire 12 bore shells, commonly used to shoot down crows.

"We also seized three 12 bore cartridges and 49 pieces of live ammunition at the suspects’ homes. All of them are currently under police remand," he said.
