Affinbank, Affin Islamic present education excellence awards to SPM achievers

KUALA LUMPUR: Affin Bank Berhad (Affinbank) and Affin Islamic Bank Berhad (Affin Islamic) recently presented Education Excellence Awards to 44 children of staff from all departments and branches who had excelled in their 2015 Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) exams.

The Affinbank Education Excellence Awards, part of the bank’s corporate responsibility initiative and now in its 13th year, has so far benefited a total of 790 children of staff.

Students who scored seven A’s and above received cash awards of between RM900 to RM2,000 per person.

Since 2004, the bank had under the programme presented RM1.1 million worth of scholarships to 35 children of the bank’s staff to pursue their tertiary education at local universities.

“All these initiatives underscore Affinbank’s firm commitment towards powering the nation’s growth by supporting deserving youths in achieving their dreams,” said Affinbank Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Kamarul Ariffin Mohd Jamil, at the awards ceremony held at Menara Affin here.

“We are proud to play a part in nurturing the young talents that will lead this country to a brighter future. And rest assured, we will continue to help our bright young stars fulfill their utmost potential in hopes that they will continue to shine in their studies,” he added.

Apart from the Affinbank Education Excellence Award, the bank has also embarked a string of corporate responsibility programmes for the benefit of students.

Since 2014, Affinbank and Affin Islamic have been jointly sponsoring distribution of newspaper education pullouts to selected primary and secondary school students, to supplement reference material used by the schools.

In 2015 the bank had channeled RM100,000 towards Tabung Pendidikan 1 Billion, a fund advancement of education of the nation.

Affinbank also took 69 underprivileged children on educational trips to the National Museum, Petrosains and Aquaria KLCC.
