Clinics, hospitals urged to lookout for suspect with gunshot wounds

KAJANG: Selangor police have urged clinics and hospitals in the state to alert the police immediately if any foreign man seeks treatment for gunshot wounds.

Selangor deputy police chief Datuk Abd Rahim Jaafar said police were hunting for the suspect who managed to flee after his four accomplices were shot dead in Kajang, last Thursday.

“I urge the clinics and hospitals to contact the police if anyone seeks treatment for gunshot wounds.

“Police have checked areas surrounding Kajang but still have yet to detect the suspect,” he said.

Abd Rahim told this to reporters after a golf tournament in conjunction with the 209th Police Day celebration, which was participated by 120 police officers and personnel at the Sungai Long Golf Club, here, today.

In the 6.15am incident, police shot dead four of five individuals who were believed to be involved in a robbery in Sungai Sekamat, near the Sungai Long toll Plaza.

All the suspects were earlier seen attempting to enter a bungalow in Taman Saujana Impian, Kajang at 3.15am on the same day.

Meanwhile, Abd Rahim said police were also conducting periodic checks at the Highland Towers, Hulu Klang, Selangor to ensure the place does not become a crime nest.

“We do not want the same incidents repeating again where the foreign criminals use that building as a hideout,” he said.

On April 12, police shot dead three of six criminals believed to be involved in robbery cases in Selangor after the gang attacked them with sharp weapons at the abandoned Highland Towers where a block collapsed in the Highland Towers tragedy of 1993. --BERNAMA
